wet winter solstice

Water Fish Bunny (by Kozyndan)
It’s been wet, wetter than wet and cold…Did I mention wet? Well, it’s so wet I had to dig more moats to avert the deluge to be able to navigate my way to the bunny bunker and the chook run. I’m starting to like moat digging and watching the water flow where I want it to , even been tempted to construct a little boat and drop it on the Venitian Gilderoy canals and mesmerizingly watch it go down stream…I didn’t, not yet…;) Yes, I will never grow up I’m sure.

So you see, that’s why this weeks blog is a bit late (again) this time purely moat digging pleasure…ahem..oh and building a bridge with protective anti slip chicken wire over it so I don’t slip and fall face down in the mud and the slush and the water, because I know that would have happened , that’s just who I am: I never grow up and I have no sense of balance..

Everytime slipping and sliding comes up (which teds to be a lot here..lol) I think back to the hilarious (now not then) adventure Paul and I had in Nepal, hiking through a National Park in search of rhinos, tigers and other big game strolling around at leisure there we were told. It was the rainy season and although our Gilderoy farm is muddy and could harbor some water buffalos Im sure, that Chitwan National Park was the winner in the mud competition.
We saw no big animals and the only wild life we came across in abundance were leeches! There were leeches everywhere and in no time (don’t ask how leeches do this) they magically appear between your toes, fingers, under your belt and in multiple places I will not even begin to mention , but you get my drift eh?
Anyway, Paul and I were dressed for the occasion for the three day hike: boots, khaki heavy pants, protective clothing, everything! I mean everything. We take about ten steps into the park and the first thing what happens is that Paul looses one of his boots when he sinks thigh high in the mud and schlurp!…boot’s gone!..oh well, I’ll walk without, he said, and takes the other one off as well. In the distant future that boot will be dug up by an unsuspecting archaeologist thinking, “so, where is the rest of the body?”…anyway, Paul is amazing. He can walk on slippery slopes , barefoot, without blinking and even when he does seem to be slipping, he does this amazing 10 yard dash to keep up with the physics of falling and gravity and stays upright. It is mesmerising to watch and absolutely hilarious. I guess that’s why he’s good at playing footy, he loves slipping and sliding in the mud. Not me. I still had all my boots on and I was down more than I was up. I was so stuck at one point that I thought they could leave me there , holding a flag and use me as a marker or bait, whatever came first. I was bait already anyway, with the amount of leeches sucking the life out of me, so by the time a tiger would have come sniffing, he would have turned away in disgust.  So, on the bright side, the leeches are life savers…lol

I am already late, so I will immediately let you have a taste and drool (yes you can suck your screen if you want to..lol) and I will get back to my dyeing for Bendigo Show, my batt making AND …something new ! making WOOSH’S..no, I’m not telling you what they are, but they are fun and absolutely yum! Not saying anymore!
Have fun looking at what I have been dyeing up this week !
