When somebody is talking about life changing experiences they have had of survival, I can surely put my 5 cent worth in as a cancer survivor. I have always been on the side of compassion and trying to be there for the underdog. There may be times that are harder than others and temptation or bad feelings creep in , because we are all human and we forget what is important and our ego takes control. I am not saying ego is a bad thing but it can be destroying for yourself and others.
There are no entitlements in life whatsoever and every now and again I get reminded of that and I fight. The older I get, the more I see , , the easier it gets, believe me or not.
Other people around me say “ oh so and so is doing this or that!! you should so report that! Or be spiteful. No…I will not, I will not ask anybody to be hurtful or do something hateful myself. Life is too short. Really it is. Fibre blends, design of spindles, colourways, garments: all of those things, however beautiful and important in their own way, are not a cure for cancer. And I have to state that even if I were to have found a cure for cancer I would not patent it. Call me a rebel. I would share it. Why? Because I am a firm believer in the fact that progress can only come from standing on each other’s shoulders.
Also, I will keep on doing what I am doing with love and passion and all consuming energy and I will value things that are truly important: knowing that life is finite and you cannot take money or a anything with you except ..maybe…your energy and your soul, which can only be filled with love, compassion and good intentions.
Today I want you to look around you and smile. Smile for what you have, how far you have travelled and who you are with, what you have learnt and how much more there is to share and love. Be grateful every single minute and transform that into compassion for those around you or those who desperately need strength and love.
Today I dedicate this blog to a good friend, Elizabeth C, who is battling cancer and is one of the most bravest young souls I know. Elizabeth, You are making a difference to so many people with your passion and strength and love. Lots of blessings from all of us here and power to you ! you are in our thoughts and in our hearts.
