|Boticelli Venus Bunny|
This weekend I am planning on finishing up the June Clubs though and the last of the custom orders before Bendigo. It is and is going to be super hectic and total fibery tsunami for the rest of June and the start of July. So many things to do !!! It’s a good thing I am a self confessed Insomniac workaholic…
Just to make June even more interesting than it is and because multi tasking is a renaissance quality I strongly believe in: there is a competition over at the Australian Handspinners and Knitters group on Facebook (link : https://www.facebook.com/groups/AHandKG/ ) that I am sponsoring this month: it is all about thinking outside of the box. Please join in on the fun and share your love of fibre and being creative ! there are prizes to be won: I am donating Super hero Stainless steel tops, Qiviut Tundra tops, Guanaco and a super exciting new blend I will be launching at the Bendigo Show: Vampire Deer blend!!!! Look it up: Vampire deer is a real animal and super cute ! and yes, you can spin the undercoat !
In all the art of the Renaissance artists there is an amazing use of amazing colour and colour combination. Obviously, there is the religious tone, because the Church was (and probably still is) the richest Patron of all, but if you look beyond that, the artists use of colour was truly revolutionary. Just look at this painting by Carlo Crivello. I have no idea why there are peaches and pickles on display together with the Madonna and Jesus, but just look at the colours, the positioning of all the elements..even the little fly. There are so many things about this particular painting : colour and composition that is mesmerizingly beautiful and inspiring. And that is exactly what I LOVE to do: Mixing, matching different things and inspirations together to combine into another medium (like fibre) or art form (wearable art). The only limit is your imagination.
Prizes to be won !!!!!
Have a good look at the names of the colourways and message me the names that do NOT belong to an Italian Renaissance Artist and the first five people to respond can win a prize !
