The Infinite Bunny Fibre Experiment & Bunny Quantum Physics

You ask :"What has Quantum Physics to do with fibre, angora bunnies, spinning and general fibre addiction?" Well, in short ...eh...everything...lol. This last week I have been trying to get my head around lots of things, trying to exercise both my left and right brain and the highway in between them, just because I noticed there was a high memory deterioration going on....and it frightened me.
Ever since the hysterectomy to get rid of the cancer I have a suspicion there is a high correlation between the reproductive organs and the brain. I mean we already suspected that in the male population but to experience this as a female is highly unnerving...
All the fibre clubs and batt clubs are on their way (or have already been received)by the club members, but here's the story that set my brain theory in motion: I loaded everything in the car to go to the postoffice: Jazz, the parcels, me. I have to drive appr. 20kms to get to the postoffice. Just about there the car decided it had enough of me playing David Bowie LOUD in the car and started producing some Metallica sounds of its own. In short, after LOUD rattling and huffing and puffing it gave up. No worries, I "parked"the car and walked the rest of the way to the postoffice only to realise when I was almost there that I had left my purse at home! Now how stupid is that?! Anyway, I walked back to the car, looked under the hood, saw that a fanbelt had slipped etc, managed to wiggle everything back in place and could huff and puff back home. So, to cut a long story short: my brain is Schrodingers cat at the moment: we don't know if it is alive or dead, so we have to presume it is both...lol Hence my leap in desperation into Quantum physics to attempt reviving my remaining brain cells into relatively good memory behaviour.

Apart from that it has been a week full of training sessions with Skye, where Jazz our dog is just looking on in amazement thinking "Oh boy, when am I ever going to get some peace around the place again?". Skye has been behaving a bit better, but I am guessing she is like a very naughty 6 year old trying to shift the boundaries all the time...exhausting! lol
Paul and I had a great time on the weekend where we celebrated our wedding anniversary going to the Heronswood Gardens on the Mornington peninsula (lots of photos on my flickr photostream at www.flickr.com/photos/ixchelbunny) and we hd a wonderful dinner at The Rocks in Mornington where Paul had a taste of some dark ale named White Rabbit as well!

There is a brewery in Healesville not too far from us called the White Rabbit Brewery (http://www.whiterabbitbeer.com.au/) and if you are ever in the neighbourhood it is defenitely a must ! We went to visit the brewery on Australia day , had a taste and I could not resist buying a t shirt saying "Rabbit on!" lol. It had been a long time since we had relaxed and gone out for drives and it felt really good to be out and about again :)

I did manage to get some dyeing done as well this week and with some very exciting new blends and fibres. Very Exciting ! The first one is a blend with South American sheep fibre. It is very much like Blue faced leicester in its softness crimp and the taking of dye. It is about a 25micron but blended with the bunny it is surprisingly soft to handle. Wonderful to spin and felt :)

For Next week : A gorgeous angora/silk hand spun yarn in various stunning colours, cashmerino lace weight yarn with free lace shawl pattern and much much MUCH more :) Although according to the Heisenberg's uncertainty principle: It states that, the more precisely the energy of an object is known, lesser is certain about calculation of its position in time. OR: Skye can always sabotage me, unwind and weave the angora silk yarn through the whole house...and i will spend all next week trying to unravel other mysteries......lol
RABBIT ON ! :-)

Just flossing and other Vampire stuff

I was just flossing!?

It's been one of those weeks again...... Monday starts and there are lots of good intentions, a new start of the week and all these things that you want to do and then somehow along the way you lose all track of things because your brain decides it is much more fun to do a mind numbing computer game that has you hooked til 4 in the morning. (No, it is in your best interest not to know what game...okay then...it is Jewel Quest....lol....)

If your brain is not doing the damage, it's the animals around you, who have this other sense of reality that involves labelling your stuff with their name on it, basically by ripping it to pieces or using it as dental floss. Skye, our fun seeking bunny, must be a huge fan of Twilight or other Vampire movies (Why didn't I call her Buffy?) ..... By the way, is it me? or are there a zillion vampire movies/tv shows happening all at once? Why? Is it the side effect of last year Wall street crash? The wish to live forever (okay, in the dark and on a very limited diet of various blood types? Not even chocolate or peanut butter? ) or is it some other reason? Anyway, I digress.....where was I?..Oh yeah, dental floss...As a bunny she loves burrowing and hiding out in dark little corners. She sleeps mostly during the day and comes out to play at dusk and dawn....okay, she did not draw blood yet, but!....What really got me this week, after last weeks feather and lace yarn fiasco, is her high standard of dental care. How do I know this? Well, basically because Missy Skye is using one of my yarn cones as high end dental floss! I have given up cleaning up..instead I think if I leave that one cone that she is so in love with, the other cones are safe. Up to now that theory works.
A cone of dental floss ....
Skye: "I think I might have missed a spot...".
I have had a great time getting the fibre club parcels ready to go and in each parcel I put a little gift of fibre as well: A new thing I am working on. Well actually two: baby bunny bling batts and Angel bunny Fibres. More on that next week because I do not want to spoil the surprise of the fibre club members.

The sock club is out of the door as well and this one is a super special one: hand dyed 4 ply spun gorgeous sock wool with some yummy extra.
As for the sock club pattern and info on the yarn that was send out with lots of close up pics and more check out www.ravelry.com/groups/ixchelbunny-fibre-and-yarn soon.

The whole living room was filled with fibre, yarn and parcels. Finally at 4 this morning I finished everything so that Paul could send them all off this morning, so hopefully you will be receiving the fibre and yarn surprises very very soon :)

The Funky Bunny batts are going to be ready for the funky bunny batt club members on Monday! It is looking very squishy and velvety :)

I did do some spinning and dyeing and although I have not finished the angora silk blend yarn yet (that is for next week promise) I finished the camelbunny laceweight and dyed it with the most gorgeous cochineal and indigo I have ever worked with :) I also used it for the fibre I have on offer for you this week, combined with walnut! So yummy!

Hand dyed Old Norwegian tops (AU$18/100g)

Old Norwegian sheep fibre is not a super soft fibre (appr, 28micron) ..it's from a rare sheep breed that is said to be one of the oldest sheep breeds in the world. It is very easy to spin, it gets softer after spinning and whacking the yarn, it takes the dye beautifully and is fabulous for socks, mittens, hats and more. It is very strong and long wearing as well !

Breaking dawn -only 2 left-

Werewolf with a dash of Vampire please? -sold-

Twilight -only 2 left-

Blade -only 2left-

Buffy -sold-

Eclipse -only 3 left-

From Dusk til Dawn

Naughty bunny & more fluffy fun

Have you ever made a plan or even a List (notice the Capitol L !) ? Yes, I am going to do this and this and this today, this week, this month ? I have.... I have promised myself to do lots this week, dye some yummy blends, finish spinning camelbunny for my update, finish spinning and plying some pure angora, even plant some veggies and herbs and organise my studio and dye room. Yep, I had a plan! Meaning I had a plan and Skye, our angora bunny had some plans of her own. Hear that evil bunny laugh in the back ground? Yep, that is Skye....
hmmmmm I have an eeevil plan coming up.....
Like I told you last time, she is a bunny with a super personality and strong willpower. I have come to recognise that she must be a mutant bunny with super bunny strength and the mental capacity of a mad scientist.
This week she managed to find a way into the corner where I keep my huge carpet wool cones. I mean they are HUGE! it takes a big muscled human to pick them up. So, what does naughty Superbunny Skye do? She manages to get them on their sides and starts rolling them around. And if that is not enough for Missy Skye, she says "hey, I wonder what is hiding INSIDE that big ball of fluff? Let's make a nice hole in it and dig my way IN!" yeah, brilliant idea ! So the next morning when I go into the studio, what do I find? Two huge carpet wool yarn cones, shredded up like confetti! Big sigh! This was Tuesday ! The week had only just started :) I spent the day cleaning up and salvaging some of the yarn and ofcourse talking sternly to Skye, who, as every mad scientist bunny, looked at me saying :"whad I dooo?"
Wednesday was relatively calm: I dyed my yummy bunny blend tops (more on that later) and finished spinning a superfine laceweight camelbuny yarn that I was hoping to dye with indigo and cochineal later....All was fine in bunny land.
Until I heard some funny noises in the studio...it was like Frau Holle had come in and emptied all the duck down pillows out! Skye had gotten into my stash of hand dyed feathers I use in my funky bunny batts and funky art yarns. She can now open plastic ziplock bags! Safe to say, I spent the day cleaning up feathers..........
Skye: "So...Whad'I do?....I did nuuuuthin' !"
The camelbunny was plied, skeined and I started plying a fine angora yarn on Thursday..
I find it amazingly easy to spin very fine on my new Rose Majacraft wheel ! It is so relaxing and a fabulous wheel to work with. I call it my Ferrari of wheels :) I got up to make myself a cup of red clover tea...and when I got back to my wheel, there was Skye sniffing around my lazy kate where I was plying my lace fine hand spun angora with a fine lace cashmere yarn. Skye was in no doubt ready to activate another of her naughty mad scientist plans. Picturing of what had happened the couple of days before, I yelled "hey! Skye! What you doin?!!!!!?!!!!"
okay, I should NOT have yelled.....she obviously was feeling very guilty, so she took off at the speed of light ....with one of her hind legs caught in the angora bunny yarn she flew across the room, winding her way through the legs of tables , chairs, couches...until , finally, the yarn broke off and she escaped to the sanctuary of her bunny run....the bobbin filled with lace hand spun angora spun wildly ...zoooom....zooooooom....and more yarn was projected all around in wild swirls and curls and loops.
The room looked like it was covered with laser beams like those used in a museum at night...only, the laser beams were hand spun angora I had spun for about a week!........
All I could do was sigh....and grab a big piece of chocolate....(my last piece of Dark chocolate reese Peanut butter cups I had kept aside just for emergencies like this!lol) .
I closed the bunny run and I must say Skye did not jump out this time. instead, I swear I could hear an evil bunny laugh in the distance...muahahaha..muahahahahahahaha......
So, to cut a long story short: There is no camelbunny yarn in cochineal and indigo, nor is there a lacey handspun angora/cashmere....THAT is for next weeks update....well...at least that is the plan.......
