Time is a Big Boomerang

It was terrible! I had to find a pair of shoes and there was no shop around that had them. I was a teenager and a huge fan of rock-a-billy, actually everything from the fifties (the 1950s !lol) and was making petticoats with miles and miles of tule, skirts that looked absolutely fabulous when twirling and dancing. Shoes however from that era were hard to find unless you were in a big city and close to an op shop where you were lucky enough to get some in your size. I still remember this clearly because it was only 6 months later that I noticed that the flat pumps that I wanted, were getting fashionable..again… and that was in the 1980s !

I did it all: high hair, rock a billy dance comps : I even won second prize in a dance event with this athletic guy I had never met before but who pushed me on the dancefloor because I looked the part with my full blown petticoat and dress and hairdo..oh and the shoes ofcourse. I think it was at an Elvis convention / rock a billy thing. We won 2nd prize and he let me keep the prize: an Elvis record…and walked away. I never even knew his name ;-)

I love the music even started singing in bands : yes with the high hair and the petticoats..where are those photos? lol I was listening to ABC radio and in between all the chat there was a song that caught my attention and put me right back in memory lane: big bad handsome man by Imelda May. It wasn’t only the music, the style but her voice is amazing. I got pulled in-again- so there: time is a boomerang. I feel like I’m in a time warp..lol…although I absolutely know for sure that I will definitely will not win 2nd prize at a rocknroll dance competition anymore…rofl..

This week, apart from listening and singing with Imelda has been filled with lots of fibre preparation, dyeing and spinning (and making soap and making an organic safe washing liuid that is fab for all fibre and clothes and dishes I might add ! more about that in later blogs) Here’s this weeks update AND the information on all the IxCHeL clubs (fibre, yarn and Batt clubs) that will start in April.
