The Super Eight are doing great. The bunnies that have survived the Calici disaster have come back strong and I am so relieved that we have some of our precious bloodlines left. We will have to introduce more bloodlines and the search is on ! English Angoras are not that easy to find. It is like with all rare breeds, whether you are talking about sheep like the teeswater or Jacob that have all disappeared from the Australian landscape or the heritage Australian Angora goat that is definitely on the endangered list with so little breeding females left.
Because of the stringent importing rules it is also extremely hard to import aninals or even all the stuff necessary for AI (=artificial insemination), especially for bunnies ofcourse.
But the fight goes on and we will do our utmost , together with some fabulous breeders in Australia to keep the diversity ad the breed alive. The rebuilding will begin after Bendigo ! That’s a deal.

For now, the race is on and the countdown has started: 18 days to go before the car has to be packed to the brim for the Australian Sheep and Wool show in Bendigo. 18 days of dyeing, spinning, batt making and making little bits and pieces that make your show (and mine) as fabulous and exciting as you could possibly dream of. The whole house is resembling a colourful fluffy factory, with spinning wheels loaded up, hand dyed tops drying, fibre and bling for the batts all organised and ready to fly on the carder and then there is the packing, labelling and naming of everything ! hardly any sleep here I can tell you that !
