Bunny Hurdles and Good Intentions

Sometimes things just do not seem to go right in so many ways ..instead of a blissful weekend going to Pauls Christmas work party in the city and having a mini mini overnight holiday in a hotel in the city , we had to cancel it all because Jazz our dog seemed to have regressed even more into a fearful, anxious “please do not ever ever leave me “ separation syndrome.
We have tried everything: training, easing her into a more calm and relaxed dog knowing we will come back, giving her the opportunity to stay with friends and interact with other dogs, we even tried prozac for dogs and pills to calm her anxiety…nothing works…she almost broke her leg trying to jump over the 7foot fence at our friends place just to find us..and we were only gone for an hour…we hate to think what she would get up to when going away for one night. We couldn’t do that to her nor our friends (envisaging a Tasmanian like rage destroying all furbiture before breaking through a concrete wall as Super Anxious Dog on the other side, speeding like a whirlwind down the road in a frantic attempt to find us.. so, what did we do? We stayed home.
It is embarrassing to admit this and it is very petty seeing we do not really want for anything, but I was really really looking forward to this mini holiday: the first in 10 years…petty , I know, but I was distraught, a nervous wreck , angry and well, all in all not in a very good mood.
So what do you know, we get up on Saturday morning, and a dead phone line and no internet…nothing..dead..if there was a word for more dead than dead, that woud be the way to describe our phone line. So, what do you doin the middle of nowhere? You drive 20kms to get mobile phone reception , go into the local library to answer messages and check order statuses before the library closes at 1pm ..being left out in the 37C heat was not making me any happier…so I called our phone and internet supplier EFTEL..talked to several people three times and every tme I got lied to: “oh you better go home, because its fixed”(no it wasn’t), “theres nothing wrong with your phone, go home” , can you plug your phone straight into the wall socket? “(NO, my arms aren’t that long, Im 20kms from home trying to get you guys to fix the problem!”..So what do you get when dealing with these highly trained robotised “support”people in another country? I got even more frustrated than I already was. Paul had already threatened me to stay away from home and not come back before I had calmed down. It wasn’t going to happen…Paul called them as well only to hear “there is a problem but it will be fixed at 5” yeah right , I saidm he just said that because by then his shift would be over and it woud be somebody elses problem…lol in short, at night still nothing so I called , I was calm, collected, the silence before the tornado and earthquake would hit at the same time kind of calm….talked to another person who admitted that there had been no logs of ANY of our phonecalls, at all…! Well, whoopdidooda! Great! Back to square one….finally the problem got logged after threatening them with breach of contract and the ombudsman, which ofcourse is still going to happen, and finally Tuesday morning our phone line and internet was fixed….apparently it was a fault at the exchange of Telstra, which is 500meters down the road from us! Irony!

Also very ironic is the fact that IF Jazz had behaved, we would have been on the town, not even knowing or caring there was a problem at all, we would have had a great time, would have come back Sunday afternoon, okay no phone not a problem, will call Monday…ironic! Isn’t it? I could have handled it better personally I mean. The supplier still needs to lift it game exponentially , but that’s not the point Im tryng to make here. I made my lofe miserable that weekend, because I stressed, and tried to get things fixed immediately which was not going to happen. Some people apparently have weekends…nothing was going to happen.. so why not stay cool, read a book, spn, watch tv, a movie relax, breathe and stay calm? I have to train myself to get there…lots and lots of training…and chamomile tea……I have to try and not go “I have to hurry, there’s a deadline, I HAVE TO do this, I HAVE TO do that, I NEED to do this. What I really need to train myself in, is thinking “Take your time, breathe, have a tea, eat something on time, relax every now and again, change”. It is December after all, the last month of the year..you know that time of the year that you start thinking about what has gone on in the 11 months that have flown by, what roads you have walked or stumbled upon, and what direction you want to go in the new year. So, I think I will just have to sit down, relax, not go a hundred miles an hour and doing ten thousand things at the same time but imagine myself on a beach, with a nice drink in one hand and doing nothings else but relaxing and change my behaviour. The parallel with Jazz misbehaving and being so frantic is actually very much the same as mine. Even before this year is out, to keep my sanity and perspective, I have already made a decision on what I need to do: calm down and enjoy life to the fullest. Things go wrong all the time everywhere, it’s just the way how we deal with them that will make them either a stressful disaster or just a minor glitch in the total scheme of things. …

So, what have I done this week? I have made the most gorgeous new blend again ! I know, I can’t help myself..Apart from getting all the IxCHeL clubs – fibre, yarn, batt and mini skein clubs- ready and shipped this week, I upgraded the Magic bunny tops to Super Magic bunny tops and gave them a nice coat of colour ! I am very happy with how they came out and they feel so soft and magical. Super Magic Bunny Tops are a blend of 60% 17 micron superfine merino, 5% angora bunny, 10% cashmere and 25% glitz. The glitz is not overbearing it is a magical component in this blend that just reflects the light magically and lifts it beautifully. I have added 10% cashmere to the blend because, well, it is just so amazingly soft and adds to the gorgeous drape and awesomeness to this blend.
