a Bunny Cloud
How To Order from this Shop blog
The new year started off with a bang ! Or should I say a heatwave and unfortunately for a lot of people a time of bushfire threat. To all of you in Tasmania and New South Wales where the fires are still raging through tinder dry forests and bush or grass lands ; please stay safe ! Let’s hope a cool change with rain will come soon ! Let’s hope for lost of bunny clouds ! We had our rain and cool change which has definitely made it easier to stand over the dyepost and prepare pigments ! preparing blends and spinning yarns in 42C heat was no picnic either so I am very grateful it is a bit cooler .
On another note:
At the start of the New year I do what everybody does: looking at the calendar and see whats planned for the year to come. Well people, it is going to be a HUGE year this year ! My calendar is filling up fast with shows, markets, spin ins, work shops and more! I have added new dates to the “dates to remember”section at the end of this blog for you. Synchronise calendars ! lol
Exciting news break : I AM GOING TO BOTHWELL! I already signed up last year but I can tell you now: I am going with my Tardis packed to the brim!
Preparations for the Bothwell spin in are in full swing: new blends prepped, ready for the dyepot new yarns being spun, batts and woosh fibres are slowly but surely being organised , mini skeins and sock yarns are next. The Bothwell Spin in is an awesome bi-annual event in Bothwell Tasmania. This year they are celebrating their 35th year reunion and it is going to be HUGE FUN! There is so much on it would be hard to put it all in this blog so I will give you the link to have a look at right here: www.bothwellspinin.com.au
There is ofcourse the ;longest thread competition (the one who spins the longest plied thread from 10grams of fleece!), there is even a yarn bombing event organised !, there are demonstrators and ofcourse lost of fabulous fibres and yarns to be cuddled and adopted into a good home ! It is going to be fun ! So, don’t delay, book your tickets for a fun journey to a magical island Tasmania !
But whats happening now! I hear you say: Well, I have dyed some more of my new IxCHeL blend Angel Bunny Tops : since they were so popular last week ! This week I have dyed them variegated and the colours have come up so beautiful. it is hard for me to stay away and not immediately put them on my spinningwheel ..lol Also some Glitz tops , great for creating some bling in your yarn, just add a tiny bit to your batts or tops while you are spinning them and Tada! You will light up in the dark so to speak. You can make it as LOUD or subtle as you want, but I love the way that this Glitz, or trilobal nylon which its also called just adds a bit of extra interest to yarns and batts.
The Angel Bunny Blend is a wonderful mix of blue faced Leicester tops with angora bunny, Cashmere and Tencel. Tencel is a plant fibre. It’s made out of wood pulp and it makes a wonderful fibre to spin and wear. It shines like silk, is soft, strong and very purlescent. It adds a wonderful element to the softness of the cashmere and bunny and strengthens the shine of the blue faced Leicester wool. All in all : it is another IxCHeL blend I am extremely over the moon about. I have also redyed some of the long colour repeats and semi solids of last week, so have a look at last weeks blog and don’t hesitate to order from last weeks offering as well.

A great fibre to add to your batts or directly to your spinning to add that little bit of pezazzz! And bling ! Glitz is a man made fibre also called triloabel nylon, it adds strength to your handspun (so great for blingy socks!) and it reflects the light in such a way that it resembles spinning in little diamonds into your fibre. A little bit of diamond glitzz will go a long way !
