The last couple of weeks have been emotionally intense..well,… when hasn’t it..lol..this week there was just a lot “on” “ workshops, prepping, blending and dyeing the club fibres, prepping all the special pigments for the LochNess adventure, prepping/blending and dyeing the Loch Ness adventure AND doing advanced spinners workshops, not to mention packing and sending the orders off and doing custom orders as well. No wonder I think 24hours is not enough time in a day.
Mentally I am doing great: I have never had such mental creative buzz going on. I guess I am just one of those people who thrive on deadlines, lots to do and being under pressure. Strange, but as soon as the pressure valve goes slack, I tend to feel more exhausted than when the pressure is on. I just tend to adapt I guess. Creativity makes more energy, just like doing more physical work gives more energy, just like…giving gets you more satisfaction than receiving..but hey, that’s just my philosophy..lol
In this month of “giving” the pressure seems to be on more than ever to give or get, depending on which side of the coin you are on. As a child – and this is so like the Monty Python sketch I remember “In MY day…we had absolutely nuthin’ “ - but we did not have a lot …at all.. my dad was very very sick from as long as I remember, coming back from the war had left him broken with only his great sense of humour keeping him alive and “being”. My mum and dad had to survive selling their art: glass work, art glass enamel insignias and more. It was a hard life and I still remember my mum staying up til the early hours in the morning to finish an order for an airline company doing all the glass enamelling that was so minute and finicky. I also remember I loved dressing up..that time I was very into the renaissance, as a 5 year old, and seeing those pirate movies with those hooped dresses and the big wigs..so I tied a pillow on top of my head like Madame de Pompadour, and strutted around in the drying room wearing sheets wrapped around me and that infamous pillow on top of my head without any idea what gravity entailed. ……until my “hairdo” fell off on top of everything my mum slaved over and/….destroyed all the work. ..I fled into the only room I could lock- the bathroom- and stayed there for a day…at the horror of my parents probably who , despite wanting to wack the living daylights out of me, needed to probably go to the bathroom more…..
We were not very well off…there were no fancy Christmas presents apart from the ones made by my mum or my grandma…and I still feel guilty for one thing: I wanted a radio….a transistor radio (look it up kids..it’s like a Bluetooth ipod)..i had asked again and again and again..til my parents obviously could take no longer and got me one. What did I do though? I kinda knew Santa was a figment of commercial imagination by then and searched under their bed…I found my present !..it even had a battery..i tried it…it worked and I heard music,.,..omg ! awesome !!!..and then I wrapped it back up, put it back ..and ……..pretended to be surprised at Christmas time. No matter what you are told at whatever point in your life: Please do not cheat and open your present before the actual present giving!!! I loved my little radio!! But I cheated ! I felt bad..maybe it was the guilt…lol…but in the end I think the surprise is even better than the gift itself. I may be wrong there, but even now, I like surprises more than getting exactly what I “asked“ for…Let’s make this time of year and indeed every day of every year a surprise. Life is much more fun that way !

Club info Time !
I have been working very very hard this year to source some very special rare breeds of fibre producing animals. From Seaweed sheep to those cute Valais Blacknose .
There will be more adventures and rare breeds on offer next year including Hungarian Racka sheep and the awesome Gra TRoender sheep from Norway ! Not to mention very VERY special Qiviut and some very special super rare fluff as well !
I will be offering special blends of these rare breeds in the special IxCHeL Fibre adventures like I have done in the last two months (Smaug and Loch ness) but will also offer them to all club members in one blend or another ! Rare breeds need our help and support. Rare breeds need to survive. There is nothing more disheartening than to see that a gorgeous animal has become extinct.. There is nothing more sad than labelling anything “The last of its kind”…
Only by supporting and spinning rare breeds will we all be adding to the diversity of our beautiful world. Don’t miss out ! Membership will give you access to very special blends only released to club members in one of a kind colourways !
