Get your tweed on ! |
The Handknitters and Crochet Guild of Victoria put a fantastic show on every year and it is well worth visiting the venue, showing your support to the wonderful guild and looking at all the creativity of all the indie dyers and fibre enablers on display.
I am preparing for this event for a year: as soon as I pack up and get back to the studio, planning for the next year starts and the spinning as well. It takes a long time to create the stock. Not only to dye it, but also to spin it and think of creative blends and types of yarns and fibres. This year there were a few new creative yarns to be cuddles: a new super soft Australian Cotton fingering weight yarn in a botanical dye range (dyed with natural dyes) and also a bright commercial dyed range AND a new range I am extremely proud of : an IxCHeL Tweed yarn in a fingering weight in a blend of soft lambswool and awesome kid mohair. And that is what I am offering you today ! But first let’s have a look at what my stall and that of the Lair of the Bearded dragon with his spindles looked like last Sunday: here’s is a short impression on a little video:
It was a truly brilliant day and I loved seeing so many of my friends visiting and making so many new friends. It was so busy I did not have a chance to walk around and visit the other stall holders. There were so many people shopping and browsing and enjoying the overload of yarns, fibres, buttons, paper and knittimg bags. An amazing day !
I cannot thank all the people who visited our stall enough ! You are all amazing and I love sharing my time with you ! I wish it could have been longer, so we could all sit and cuddle some yarn together, sitting and having a cuppa while knitting and sharing stories. The show closed at 3 and it was a mad rush after that, because the stallholders are only given an hour to pack up and get out of the hall. No small feat ! At those moments I wished I had a wand and could just wave it and say a Hogwarts like incantation like “ Packy-up-ium!” and everything would sort itself out in seconds and tetris itself into the van. Unfortunately there is no such wand yet…lol
Once back home the hungry bunnies were waiting for us of course! We unpacked all the stock that night because it was freezing cold here and we do not want to stress out the fibre !And the next day is always stock take and putting away day and taking notes of all the extra custom orders, the requests, te paperwork and everything else.
I was pretty tired on Monday, so Paul told me to just relax and sit on the couch and do some paperwork, drinking tea. I gladly accepted. At around dinner time and after my umptieth mug of tea, I got up to give Paul a drink and start dinner and……………………………
That’s essentially the last thing I remember. I fainted while going into the kitchen, hitting my head on the stone benchtop, then hitting the tiled floor with my right hip, leg and arm and then my head again, while the glass I was carrying embedded itself in my left wrist on impact with the floor.
I remember nothing…...
I only remember Paul hovering over me, shouting in my ear that he loved me and that he was going to turn me over because I was bleeding quite a lot …which I though was a bit odd to say, since I was just having a nap…then I saw deep red huge drops of blood dripping on the tiled floor and thought “ oh! That’s a nice red!” and immediately coming to the conclusion that lying on a cold, hard, tiled kitchen floor isn’t really nice! Paul got me up …with great difficulty…considering the state of my left wrist and the whole right side of my body.
I have had some doozies in my life, but Oh boy !, if you could only see me now ! My left wrist required stitches (the glass just narrowly missed my artery) and I have been to so many tests and doctors in the last week it’s totally nuts (and time and $ consuming). Apart from a blood pressure issue (they think) there is nothing they can see that is wrong with me…yet. There are still some tests next week but I am not holding my breath. In the meantime all the bruising has come out and it feel like my thigh is exploding or growing another leg..i don’t know which…lol I am super tired and Paul did not let me do anything this week (although I was naughty and made some urgent funky bunny batts on the carder…shhhhh don’t tell anybody!) ………. ! Next week, apart from the two days booked in for miore tests, I am concentrating on organizing everything for the June Clubs and making a plan on how to tackle the Bendigo Show preparations ! It is going to be full on and I don’t want to faint, while in the kitchen or traversing paths, rocks and hard surfaces while taking care of the bunnies !
So yeah…..exciting weeks at Villa Bunny….. (insert eyeroll)
Tonight I am offering you the new IxCHeL Tweed yarns that were launched at the Handknitters and Crochet Guild Show on Sunday. This yarn is amazing! Soft and with so many different coloured pops of colour that combine all so well with all the 12 base colours. You can see repeats of the little pops of colours in each base yarn. It is a single construction, has a very good stitch defibition and is a fingering aka 4ply weight (Aus) yarn. I love this yarn. Since I am out of commission at the moment to do any spinning, heavy lifting or dyeing, I am having fun coming up with lots of different designs and combinations. They all work so well together! Have a look! There are more yarn and colour ideas brewing , so keep an eye out! Also, if you would like sweater quantities, please let me know. I skeined the tweed up in 50gram skeins, because it works so well to do colourwork with! But I can skein it up in bigger skeins if you like sweater quantities ! Just let me know and if you hve any questions or special requests: do not hesitate to ask !
Oh before I forget: if you’re not following me (yet) on facebook or Instagram, please do: I do offer some special stuff on there as well on other days of the week. (Instagram : www.instagram.com/ixchelbunny and Facebook : www.facebook.com/IxchelYarnsAndFibres ). I will try to post as many photos there as I possibly can (or remember)....

carefully packed and presented in a special organza gift bag
50g/ AU$19
Two organically grown superior green tea leaves and a jasmine bud are plucked from the best quality tea bushes and mixed with delicately smelling jasmine blossoms, then sieved and hand rolled on bamboo trays, into small balls while the leaves are not quite dry.
The leaf captures the fine jasmine aroma and releases it during brewing, giving a champagne coloured cup.
Brewing: 1-3 minutes 75-80degC ,
4 pearls/cup,
you can reinfuse 3-4 times so those 4 pearls last a looong time
Carefully handrolled tea
Enjoy the tea over and over again, by adding hot water again and again
