Happy Friday !!
It was a bit of a weird week here: freezing cold and then a brilliant spring day where the sun was out and I got optimistic , walking around in a tshirt and shorts…only to freeze up again now. Welcome to Victoria I hear you say ..lol four seasons in one day. There even was a mini tornado near us in Powelltown, which explained why everything was absolutely covered in dust.
Apart from the weather side of things: A busy , busy week again with heaps of blending, prepping and dyeing and custom spinning yarn. So yeah, super, super busy again, which is all good , because that will take my mind off the fact that the wool show I should have been at later this month, is of course cancelled due to the Pandemic. The Black and Coloured Sheep and Wool Market in Pakenham at the end of this month is going to be sorely missed by me and lots of other small farms and of course , all the wonderful people coming to visit and buy our fluff ! But, we keep doing what we do and "keep swimming!".
I was ecstatic about the August club being finished and some have already spun their fibre into yarn!! It appears that lots of people loved their august club and I have been inundated by requests if I have more of the august clubs. I am very sorry to say that I do not have extras.
Sometimes I have one extra because I miscalculated my prepping but that is about it. SO if you really want to make sure to get your fibre or batt or yarn fix, the best thing to do is become a member of the club.
Just so you know: I start to prep and organize the blends I offer in my clubs months and sometimes years ahead. It takes a long time to get everything done (meaning prepped and blended). I put a lot of effort in sourcing rare breeds and come up with blends that are out of the ordinary. It takes a lot of time just doing that and getting everything organized, but now in these Pandemic times, I have to also calculate a much longer wait time to get all the fibres in that I need. Shipping times for parcels may have become a bit better than they were earlier this year, but for larger shipments including my fluffy stuff, take a LOT longer than usual….sometimes at least 4 months or more !
I can tell you that one of the rare sheep breeds I will be able to offer you this month is something I started to organize two years ago! This time it was a huge adventure to get everything planned, sourced and then to get it all administratively and logistically put in place. It is going to be an incredibly special update later this month !
But , that is still a few weeks away ! Keep an eye on the blog though and my Instagram and facebook posts to keep up with what’s happening.
For this update I have some extremely happy sheep for you…nudge nudge say no more…and a super luscious bit of one of my favourite blends: the IxCHeL Outlander tops with Scottish Soay sheep.
Oh and before I forget:
1. Again, only a limited quantity of each colourway and blend available;
2. The Club sign ups are still open, just email or message me to sign up.
Allons-y !! as the 10th Doctor (Doctor Who) would say!
Have a fun browse and happy snaffling !!!
