Be Magical !

This week all has been a bit of a blur. Monday was a big day anxiously spent in a dentist chair, mouth wide open and being tugged, torn and fitted out again. All went reasonably well (although I have to go back again next Monday…oh joy ! lol) and I was pretty woozy and out of it for the rest of the day. I did have the wonderful experience while waiting for Paul to pick me up, that I got a “LOVE YOUR HAIR!!” compliment flung at me from a car by a stranger, which perked me up and made me shout “Thank you!” smiling like a version of the Phantom of the Opera, because half of my face was numb and not moving… A reminder that a little bit of “Nice” goes a long way ! It may seem a bit weird saying this, but kindness doesn’t cost anything, but is worth so much. Especially if you are on the receiving end and you are feeling like death warmed up just slightly….lol

This week I have been side tracked (AGAIN) from building much of the website to doing more blend prepping and dyeing and AUGUST CLUBS ! , but I guess that is the way things go.. Also, some pyrographing and painting (see making a bee phang video later), some custom spinning and lots of organizing of fibre with a huge shipment of fluffy fibres arriving, which made me shout into the void : “WE NEED A BIGGER BOAT ! ” lol There are so so many new and exciting things happening to fil the new website coming at the end of August , it is blowing my mind. It’s so EXCITING !!!!!!!

For tonight’s update is a fabulous blend which took a lot of doing: it consists of bamboo that is dyed first (because pant fibres take the dye differently than anima fibres) and then bended with superfine merino, which is then over dyed with dyes that are being soaked up beautifully by the merino but not by the bamboo This creates a depth and excitement (there’s that word again ) !

The August IxCHeL Art Journey are getting their dye bath, getting made into funky bunny batts and yarn and here is the sneak peek of the colourway inspiration: The Swedish artist Hilma at Klint who painted more than 1300 works in her life: portraits, and naturalistic paintings that were sold and shown to the world. The others were never shown but to a very select audience like Rudolph Steiner, an Austrian occultist, social reformer, architect, esotericist, and claimed clairvoyant. The beginning of 1900s saw a lot of change: discovery of X-rays, discoveries in science and Math and …lots of interest in Spirituality and séances and Hilma, together with 5 other friends, started “The Five”. There was a similar interest in spirituality by other artists during this same period, including Kandinsky. The modern works of Hilma preceded the Kandinsky though by about five years or more! She felt her abstract work and the meaning within were so groundbreaking that the world was not ready to see it, and she told her nephew to keep them hidden for 20years after her death. Boxes and boxes of her gigantic works stayed hidden in a Swedish farmhouse for wayyyy longer than that though because her nephew died before the 20years was up. What happened next is a whole other adventure♥️ I’m busy writing up Hilma’s story and all the August clubs will be ready to ship mid August to all the club members♥️ its going to be an exciting month !♥️
