June has always been a very exciting and hard working month, filled with heaps of new blends and yarns being processed, dyed, dried, skeined up and labelled. So much work to do before the Bendigo Show at the end of July and..so little time..as usual. This year particularly has been filled with so many new adventures and lots of exciting fibre and yarn quests I hardly felt I had time to properly breathe. All consuming, all fibery and yarny goodness. I am very happy to announce a new range I have been working on for ages on our own homegrown and spun cashmerino lace weight yarn: A Botanical dye range, all dued with natural dyes and some even eco printed. It is amazing to see the colours range and expand in all their natural beauty. To grow your own dyeplants and then transform their beauty into something so magical in colour keeps amazing me every time. Sometimes it takes years and years to nurture , eg the madder root that has to stay in the ground for at least 3 to 4 years to then explode in a range of reds when you dye with it .. I always love the way that natural dyes just all go together so well: no matter of they are greens or blues or pinks or purples: I have never seen any of those colours clash and look awful together. It is like nature always has this colour harmony that soothes the soul. ..

This blog update is all about the launch of the new Cashmerino Botanical Dye Range I Have been working on for quite some time now. I wish I could say more but I am running out of time a bit for this blog update (as usual…my deadlines creep up on me faster than I can type..lol). The yarn base is our own homegrown cashmerino laceweight yarn that is amazing to knit with and even use as a thin plying thread for your handspun singles. It is a superfine merino combined with Australian cashmere and is feltable. I also use it in my weaving in combination with silk for example,, then felt it and the combination is amazing. You can also energise the cashmerino by adding more twist to it on your spinning wheel and then weave with it to do an amazing collapse weave! Excellent for scarves and textured wearable art !
