What to do with all this Love

What to do with all this Love? By the wonderful artist Chiara Bautista
What to do with all this Love? Every day we all have a choice what to choose and how to translate every breath we take into something else. Every heart beat is transformed into energy in some shape or form and it is up to us, call it our soul if you like, to spice it up into something truly special, something to make a difference to ourselves or to others.

The beauty is that every body translates these heartbeats and every breath we take using different media: some make music or paint, write or transform things into something else using their hands, their ideas and their hearts. It amazes me how one experience can be either put into words or music or other forms that wrap ourselves into the love we create for ourselves or others and each and every time we do this “translation” it makes a huge difference. A positivity that flows through our veins and can also make someone else happy. I am certain that in the end this transference of energy is making a difference that is more important than the negativity being created by some, yet for some reason, negativity and fear is let loose on us because somebody found out that negativity or fear gets better ratings on television and that these emotions somehow register longer than the positive ones.
I don’t know about that last statement though. I want to believe that the more we wrap ourselves in positive things, we can face the fear and fight. When I am playing music and singing or when I am spinning yarn and able to make something cuddly and warm and fluffy, it makes me feel better. It puts a smile on my face. It feels like a hug. Sometimes I would wish that those people in power would make totally different choices on how to “govern” if they only would spin, knit, make music and do something creative with their ambitions. That’s my philosophical thought of the week. Let me know what you think ! Does crafting make your brain work differently? Does it make you feel happy and do you think it makes people around you more happy as well?

Before I start saying anything about my week, I would like to pay my respect to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who passed yesterday. She has been an immense musical influence in my life and I loved singing her songs way back when with the band I was in. Singing “Think” and “Respect” will always put a big smile on my face. RIP Aretha and thank you for putting so much Soul in your music!

This week has been a busy one again! All the club dyeing and preparation had to be done, all the pigments organized and getting all the yarns and fibres ready to ship next week. This month , a painting by Frida Kahlo is the inspiration and it took a great deal of work to make me happy with the result. I used a specific overdye technique on the yarns for example to get interesting tonal values and I hope all the club members will like the results. I will post photos of the August clubs soon on my Instagram and facebook pages. In the meantime, the September clubs are already prepped and ready to get their dyebath next week ! You know tiem is really nothing ! It flies so fast it is scary and with the weather being very cold here still and practically wet all the time as well, it makes the drying times expand exponentially. So yeah, next week another club is going to get their colours on..lol Here is the inspiration for August and September.

Frida Kahlo..Thorn Necklace (1940)

Irises by Van Gogh.
Van Gogh started painting Irises within a week of entering the asylum, in May 1889, working from nature in the hospital garden.
He called painting "the lightning conductor for my illness" because he felt that he could keep himself from going insane by continuing to paint.

It just seems the July clubs have just been shipped out and before you know it, the August clubs are well on their way to get ready and shipped next week! Which means that we are almost near the end of the current club period and the exciting start of the next ! So, sign ups for the next club months starting in October ! The last Club sign ups for the year 2018!!! Can you believe it?? Time flies when you are having fun that is for sure !

For this update I have something special: Gothic Bunny tops. This blend is heaven to spin and wear. A gorgeous drape and shine and the black streaks from the silk going through it makes the colours just that much more rich when you spin the fibre up.

Also Club sign ups for the next round is still open; especially the batt club and the sock yarn clubs are filling up very fast, so do not wait to re-sign if you are a current member or if you are thinking of joining for the first time! Lots of fantastic art is waiting to be “translated” into fibre colours again !
