IxCHeL Yarn for an IxCHeL Jumper by Catherine Clark |
Today is a public holiday in Victoria, probably because almost everybody here is bitten by the AFL footy bug. The AFL final is on tomorrow and I am actually off to a presentation this evening together with Paul, because the Seville reserve team won the premiership and he, as assistant Coach, wants to celebrate with the boys. So, that means I will not be updating this blog at 8pm but as soon as soon as I finish getting this all organized so I can get out of my work clothes and desperately try and find something to wear. Please do not hesitate to contact me for ordering or questions, but please know that I will be out tonight. I will get back to you tomorrow or later tonight. You can also find me at the Pakenham Wool and field day at the Pakenham library on Sunday ! Pleae come and say hello and fondle some fibres and yarns and try some spindles from the Lair of the Beareded Dragon ! You can even pat a lamb or two !
Now, on with the show!
PomPom magazines latest Moon issue, has some pretty awesome patterns and I was totally “over the moon” (pardon the pun) by the IxCHeL jumper pattern by Catherine Clark. You can get the pattern or the issue through Ravelry here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ixchel
To make a long story short I decided to dye up some yarn to make the jumper and maybe even a hat using the pattern, but you can make the most awesome shawl as well by simply adapting the pattern. Anything goes I always say ! For the jumper you need appr 3 or 4 indigo dyed yarns which are called “Empty sky” and one or 2 of the "gold star" yarn. If you would like to make yourself a beanie 1 skein of each will do and you will have left over to make yourself a scarf as well.
Here are some photos for inspiration:

A lot more to go but the moons are there in all their glory !
or, why not make a beanie?
you can also choose a sock weight yarn without silver angelina of course ! A superfine merino with silk and a tiny bit of nylon is the best non bling option !

The other yarn I offer you today is a very special handspun yarn I have just finished spinning this week from our angora bunnies and wallaby fibre. It is amazingly soft with a fantastic halo and very precious.
Club sign ups for the next round are still open UNTIL MONDAY ! Do not wait to re-sign if you are a current member or if you are thinking of joining for the first time! Lots of fantastic art is waiting to be “translated” into fibre colours again ! Have a fun week creating and cuddling some fluffy yarns and fibres !
To order: email or message me on facebook or Instagram, quoting the colourway and the quantity you would like, together with your postal address and I will get right back to you with all the payment details.
Angora Bunny and Wallaby handspun yarn
50grams handspun +/- 100meters per skein $35
English Angora Bunny tops 25grams $15
Pure white English Angora Bunny
our bunnies are groomed every two days
and are given a haircut every 3 months, the wallaby fibre is sourced locally and it takes a long time to find, but especially in mating season the wallabies tend to fight with each other and you can find bits of fibre here and there. That means I do not have lots but it does make it extra special.
