Another week has flown by here! To some, especially to those spending time in Pandemic Isolation, time may seem to go by more slowly I can imagine, so I absolutely mean no disrespect and I totally get it. I am not surrounded by having to homeschool teens, just with animals and a VERY, VERY demanding .......husband..eh ..i mean ....cat. Who am I to talk eh? LOL
The short of it is, I have been over the top busy getting all the clubs prepped, blended, dyed AND also this blog update, together with the ever demanding chores of cooking (“what’s for dinner?”), which in all honesty I love doing ! I even made some speculaas cookies this week because I had a craving for those in this cold weather we have been having and of course there’s no way of popping into a shop who had them in stock as far as I could tell. My cookies turned out well, I still have some dough left in the fridge to make more, but I have been told the longer you leave the dough to cure, all the spices will just get bigger and better, so that’s my weekend cookie adventure done !
Now, why did I say “Be magical” ? well, there’s a reason to my madness of course: tonight’s update is a freshly dyed batch of Magic Bunny. I have done this blend 15 years ago and then relegated it back to its wizardry cupboard, but I thought this was the right time to get it back out for everybody to have a good cuddle and spin with it. This blend is really , thoroughly blended and amazingly fun to spin! When you hold the blend and let the sun shine on it, you can see a rainbow of beauty on it. I think we all need some magic right about now , so there you go! Here’s to spinning some magic!

I want to have all kinds of different colourways and schemes and types of dyeing to happen. It means that sometimes you get taken out of your comfort zone as a spinner or knitter, but it will also expose you to new ideas ! And that, I think, is very important. It just adds a lot of adventure to it all.
The August month is extremely special!!!! For one, Everything is dyed with natural dyes! It means that there is layering of colours going on. It also means that it takes extra time to achieve all the depth and intensity I wanted to achieve to get the image of this months artwork across.
What artwork is that ? Well, that was another “should I , Should I not-moment” because it was super hard ! LOL
But the history and the importance of this artwork is immense …and I only cover one segment of it!!
If you have never heard of the Apocalypse Tapestries, now is the time to have a read about it...right in the middle of a pandemic..why not eh? LOL
To all those in the IxCHeL Clubs: an indepth study is also included in your parcel together with some links to get a virtual tour of this magical piece of art.
Tapestry weaving is amazing and magical: the amount of coloured threads used to create an image is amazing. Just to realise the tonal values, the shade, the shadows, the light, the texture. Tapestry can create a universe feeling like a 3D reality on 2D medium. It always has fascinated me, just like painting.
Here is a teaser of the August Club :
