Let the Fluffy Shenanigans begin...

Not quite St Patrick's day, which is next Wednesday, but there is absolutely no harm in starting early I always say! 

The past week I have been up to my elbows in dye pots and blending and carding adventures, so doing this blog on a Friday night is always a bit of a slowing down and looking back moment. The Yarn clubs and fibre club are all dyed and almost ready, waiting for a bit of a breeze to get them all dry and ready to parcel up for all the members. 

The fibres for the batts are ready and waiting for me to start carding together over the weekend. It is all happening! 

 The Art work inspiration for this month is a painting from a local artist to me by the name of Frederick McCubbin, who painted this painting called “Lost” in 1886 in Box Hill. 

When I first visited Australia and went to the National Gallery Victoria, I had to buy the post card ! The little lost girl in the centre of the painting surrounded by eucalypt trees, was inspired by a true story of Clara who got lost in the Australian Bushland in Lilydale. She was found safe and sound after nearly 4 weeks ! So, happy ending and a gorgeous painting which always mesmerized me. Who knew when I first saw the painting at the gallery and fell in love with it and its story that I would live so close to Lilydale ! AND dye my own version of it on fibre and yarn?! Because the Australian landscape features so dominantly in the artwork, I wanted to do it justice by using natural dyes. Lots of foraging and prep work has gone into it, but the result is so worth it. I will post teaser photos and more info on my Instagram and facebook pages soon.

Actually, if you would have told me 20 years ago that I would be writing a weekly blog and spend my days and nights spinning, dyeing and weaving , I would definitely not have believed you one bit !...

Life is strange and it just goes to show that anything goes ! Here’s to more adventures !

So I have only a limited supply as always, but it is so worth it ! Spinning these tops is smooth, super soft and very easy !
