Welcome to another IxCHeL Blog update to brighten up your weekend a tiny bit. 

I am sure I am not alone in this, but somehow 2020 seems like a walk in the park compared to the mind blowingly dystopian year we are having now. Just when a tiny bit of hope started to permeate through by thinking the pandemic is a bit more under control, we get hit by major disastrous floods in Queensland and New South Wales being under water AND to top it off Vlad the terrible aka Putin, decided for some reason that he wanted his Russia to be a bit bigger by invading neighbour Ukraine as a “peace keeping mission”. 

Equally baffling is the fact that at a neo nazi/ultra right wing conference in the States, held at the same time as the CPAC (compare it to the Australian Liberal Party national conference) across the street, the Neo Nazi organizer by the name of Fuentes (??? Yes that is not the typical white supremacist name you would expect is it now? But what do I know..lol) , openly asked for a round of applause for the amazing job Putin is doing. Now, this support was offered just after Putin declared that and I quote “wanted to “de-Nazify” Ukraine” ! (an obvious lie...)  So they are applauding the guy who wants to fight Nazis?? Them?? Or wait…no…they are NEO Nazis.... I have to clarify that Ukraine has a democratically chosen President who is Jewish and whose family was killed in the camps in WW2 …

There is so much dystopian, fake phonery horrible things going on at the moment I am finding it hard to get my head around it all. Some of it is so preposterous its laughable, were it not that thousands of people are dying and even more have lost their homes and their livelihoods. 

 I am sure I am not alone being feeling both anger, despair and feeling absolutely inadequate to make sense of it all. Obviously, my writing here is not going to give you that happy shiny people feeling but I have always been honest with all of you and wrote what was in my heart and on my mind..so there. The only way I can hopefully put a smile on anybody’s face atm is to offer you something to cuddle and spin or felt with. Something to create, not destroy. Something with colour, not black (although I have contemplated putting Black Bunny tops on offer tonight but I felt that was wayyyyyy too black and uncalled for).

What else have I been up to? 

Well, The March clubs have been dyed, skeined, carded, labeled, braided and packed and..shipped !!! yes! Here is a little preview:

It was a mammoth task to get  all the March clubs done but I have so much more to do to get ready for the handknitters guild coming up on the 14th and 15th of May !

I will be there I the same spot as usual, right next to the entrance door in what I call “Fibre and Yarn Narnia” ..LOL 

 It is going to be huge and fun and filled with amazing yarns and fibres and..of course, it will not only be me, loads of other sellers will be there as well !! I will post more updates the sooner I have more info. Anyway, that brings me to the next thing I want to bring to your attention… 

I am sure many of you who know me, realize that I am a total workaholic, always giving at least a 200% effort to create yarns and fibre blends and clubs and weekly updates. 

To do this, it not only takes a great deal of money to invest in stock, but it also takes a lot of time. In fact, it takes ALL of my time. Apart from some itty bitty time I take out to cook a quick meal for my family and go to doctors appointments, that is about it. 

The last three years especially have taken their toll on me. I have been working with blinders on, not really taken good care of myself, just working continuously, and trying to keep everything going. 

You can imagine that the pandemic was not really a walk in the park. In fact, there was not really a park to walk in …lol well, you know what I mean with the lockdowns etc. 

 That aside, I kept telling myself that I am a cave dweller anyway so I stayed in and , yes, worked even harder. If I was hardly seeing anybody before the pandemic I am absolutely seeing nobody at all now. In fact, I am finding myself feeling anxious going out at all. Not because I am afraid of catching the virus (double vaxxed and boosted) or wide open spaces, or confined spaces, it’s just that I have been accustomed to this routine for so long, my brain and body has settled into this treadmill  and I cannot seem to get off the hamster wheel….I hope I am making sense. 

 I had no idea I was in this much trouble until I received an email from the Bendigo Show a couple of weeks ago asking for confirmation for stall space etc. I had the biggest panic attack ever. I broke down completely. I am sure some people ask themselves why, because the show is amazing (and it is!) and fun (and it is !) but at the same time I knew that I could not physically do the amount of work required to make the show happen. 

 The last time I was at the show in 2019, I was extremely sick and had just suffered a cardiac arrest, and I went anyway, only to last two out of the three days…. I got an operation a few months after the show to attach a pacemaker to my heart to keep it “running” and all is okay but at the same time I am not okay if you know what I mean. 

I feel my batteries are running on empty and I am burning the candle at both ends. 

I knew I needed to make a hard decision. The problem is I do not want to let anybody down. The other problem is: I need to take better care of myself and just do a bit less this year. Build my strength up. 

 I need to get a few physical things tended to by medical professionals and going to Bendigo Show will make that pretty hard. So, I need to make a super hard decision. I know I am letting loads of people down and it breaks my heart but I have decided to not go to the Bendigo Show this year. 

There! I said it! Phew! OMG ! That was SO HARD to say out loud ! But it is out there now and I can’t take it back. 

 I will still be sponsoring wool craft entries to the Bendigo show. So please create and enter your beautiful yarns and garments to win IxCHeL prizes !! 

I will be going to the Handknitters Guild Show in May, but it will be the only show this year I will be attending. I am going to have heaps of goodies there and Paul and I will be there to give you the Grand Tour of our Fibery , Yarnie and Spindle Narnia.

 And, of course, the weekly blogs will keep going! And I am working on a secret, which will be revealed soon as well, so I do hope you will keep reading my blogs and following me on Instagram and Facebook.

Shipping :  I am still working and mailing the parcels out fast as humanly possible :-) All orders received and paid for of the Friday updates, will be shipped first thing monday morning. We do daily post office runs (if necessary). The recent AusPost changes to parcel pickups from businesses therefore does not apply to us because WE deliver your parcel directly to our nearest AusPost hub.

Seeing that there are currently lots of Covid cases, especially in NSW ain VIC, there can be some AusPost sorting centres that do not have enough staff so there will be delays in getting the parcel to you. As soon as your parcel is shipped you will receive an automatic email from AusPost with the tracking number so you can see where your parcel is and the approximate ETA. 

Overseas deliveries are highly impacted by the very low amount of planes out of Australia t the moment and the very high pressure on AuPost. Please be patient during these pandemic times.
