Dinosaurs, Trilobites, Thylacines and Yarn !

Another busy week here : Lots of dyeing and carding ad packing ! All the June Art Journey clubs are ready  and have been shipped out to all the members this morning ! Soooooooo many batts needed to be done and it took me 3 days to get them all carded, blinged up and then packed. 

A little video below will show you a little bit of a teaser. I am so proud of the June fibre club parcels as well, the base I have blended together consists of a very special rare sheep breed I organized from Ukraine which took a LOT of effort but I am so happy to be able to offer it to the club members. There are just so many different natural colours in the base blend which take the dyes so magically. More photos of the yarn, fibre and batt club will be put on my pages on Instagram and facebook later this month. Apart from working on the June Clubs I have to admit something: I went out !!! I know!! Out of the house, the farm, away from the animals and the Yarra Valley..you know..out side !!!! seeing people and it was not yarn or fibre related !!…lol 

 If you have followed my journey, you would know I hardly ever make time to go out at all. Pandemic or not by the way…lol 

 So, Paul and I went out to see Jurassic World Dominion at the closest cinema (about an hour and a half drive away…). Obviously only Fibre events and Dinosaurs will get me out of the house …LOL 

It was a really great movie and I REALLY enjoyed it..pizza afterwards at the Groove train restaurant and I even had a margarita..woohoo! All in all a great night out. 

I was amazed that we were the only people in the cinema and Paul even suggested he had rented the whole place out…LOLOL He’s part Scottish..no way he would…lolol (and I can say that kind of thing because as part Dutch; the only people who are possibly more “tight” than Scottish are the Dutch.. LOLOL) 

Also, the minions had a little pre movie before the Main feature film....hilarious (see photo below)  Then on the way home.. I re enacted the minion skit yelling “Bellllloooo!” Just like Bob did to the big T-Rex (yes, I’m 5!!) and no kidding: a wallaby hopped on the road, looked at us and hopped back into the bush; All the while “Happy” was playing on the radio!!!

I turned to Paul and said “lucky a T-Rex didn’t jump out coz you would’ve had a hard time evading that one!”😜 Go see Jurassic World Dominion btw! It is awesome! And they finally added feathered dinosaurs too! Yeah!

 

There are a lot of things happening “behind the scenes” so to speak at the moment: Paul has been doing a LOT of work to get a very special project to work: A proper website and online shop !! Yes!! After about 16 years of saying “ Website coming soon!” it is really , REALLY coming soon now !!! Please keep an eye out on my facebook and Instagram pages for major announcements ! Lots of special treats and excitement on its’ way ! In the meantime, I am working on making lots of new blends and dyeing up a storm !!!

For this week’s blog update, it being so cold and wet and brrrrr cold..some of my Gaia organic DK 8ply hand dyed yarn would fit the bill ! It is soft, cuddly and knits up like a charm ! Spun right here in Victoria with white and grey merino together, it dyes up so beautiful, with a fabulous depth of colour and interesting highlights. If you are wondering how some colourways would knit up I can show you an example sent to me by the awesome Celine O’Callaghan with socks she has knitted with the Wicked High Viz Gaia Dk yarn! It looks absolutely amazing !!!
