14 days to go til Bendigo show and this bunny here is in MORE than total ACTION Mode!

There is a LOT to do: and I am not talking about dyeing or blending ( that was the homework that had to be finished months ago!) no I am talking about dyeing, drying , packing and labelling and making up all the the “thank you for being a super bunny bags” for the Bendigo show !

What is thank you for being a super bunny I hear you say? Well..everybody who wears bunny ears will receive a special surprise pressie pack when visiting my stall i8n the flower shed at the Bendigo show. It is Fun ! and at the same time I am desperately trying , for over 10 years now, to be an advocate foir all; things bunny and fibre.
Why? Because it’s not only a fun thing but more importantly to be an advocate to animal welfare and let everybody know how important it is to have diversity and think outside of the box. In  the last twenty years there has been a huge resurgence of craft and also an identity change so to speak of how we work and experience fibre: where does it come from, how does it get processed? Are the animals treated right? What story is connected to the yarn or the fibre? All this is going to be centre piece at my Women of wool talk at the Bendigo show. Slow craft, slow stitch, creative sustainable fibres…all of that is so important and how to make it work ! Not an easy task at all. For any of you who have been trying to survive being a farmer (being prayed upon by big industry =read taken advantage of- ) it is time to stand united on one hand and at the same time stand strong in individuality and passion. It may take a long time but I am sure that the creative resurgence of sustainable creative craft will make the wold d a better place.

I have been dyeing fibres almost non stop ion preparation for the Bendigo show, but there is so much more to do: preparing the “thank you for being a super bunny bags” which means that if you are wearing bunny ears while visiting my stall at the Bendigo show you will receive a special “Thank you for being a super bunny bag” , making labels, and posters and much much more. Days are blending into nights…working days of 20 hours a “day” are regular.. so much to think of and do and prepare and sometime , yes, I think, when I am run off my feet and almost falling down, this is “inhumane” …..and then I remember.. I am speaking for the bunnies,,,speaking for craft.

There’s a lot going on here at the farm: so many fibres still to dye and label. BUt there is light at the end of the tunnel: only about 5 more blends to dye together with some rare sheep breeds!!
