Bushfire Fundraising and Yarn

In Australia we are experiencing horrific bushfires and there has been horrible devastation not so far away from us in East Gippsland but also huge areas of New South Wales are burning, South Australia, even Western Australia! 
Canberra is in the middle covered in smoke so toxic people can’t go outside and the air quality is deemed to be the WORST in the world at the moment! In..the..World !!! Let that sink in for a moment ! 

 I wanted to do something and as soon as I saw that two of my dyer friends, Heathermaid and Ozifarmersmarket, had put together a fab Ravelry group and initiative to raise funds for those people directly affected by the horrendous fires, it took me all but a few minutes to jump in and offer my support. There are heaps of indiedyers there, united for one purpose : Showing we care and supporting all those affected in the horrific bushfires.

Every sale will generate $ to donate to the CFA . red cross or other emergency funds nominated by each dyer. 

I have joined the effort to raise funds for the people directly affected by the bushfires in Gippsland, our neighboring shire as soon as the group set up.

I will be offering Hand dyed yarns in a colourway in my Sexy Scientist range called "Sexy Bushfire Scientist" (inspired by the work and scientist Rachel Badlan, who , I might add, we need more of !) together with all the superheroes of the CFA who are doing an amazing job protecting lives and risking their own in the process. 

 The Bushfire Scientist Yarn will be available on two different sock weight, fingering weight, 4ply bases: the IxCHeL Silver Star Base (Superfine merino, cashmere, nylon and silver angelina, 100 grams , 420meters, AU$32) and the IxCHeL Sock yarn base (Superfine merino, Silk, Nylon, 100g , 410 meters, AU$30)

All yarns will be custom dyed by myself   next week til the end of January.

The fundraising will end at the end of February, so all orders that come in between end of January and the end of February will be dyed in a second batch  and shipped out at the end of February. 

 For the colourway on offer, please see below. 15% of the sale of yarn in this colourway will be donated to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund (GERF) and CFA.
