It's raining .....mud ?

Australia is a land of extremes: First you swelter in the heat and looking for a drop of water, then, the next day, hailstones the size of golf balls come down from the skies and there is so much rain in one day that tropical areas would be envious for. I have to add that the rain that came down here proved to be “heavy rain” in more than one way: The rain was literally loaded with so much dust fron the huge dust storms from way up north, that everything got a muddy coat. In itself that is not so much of a disaster, but wait ! Out here in the country, we rely on tank water. Yep, you got it: we now have extremely muddy water that even our water filter has no way of eliminating. The only way of dealing with it now, is to be patient that the water settles down the bottom of our tank. I was extremely lucky I had already prepped, dyed and washed the yarns and fibres for the January clubs. I would not have been able to do so in the muddy water we have at the moment ! This is just to show you how you have to adapt living I Australia and in the country. Last week the power was out because of heavy thunderstorms and wind with a dash of heat and possible bushfires thrown in, this week it is floods with a generous portion of mud.

This week I have also dyed and blended some custom orders, so it has been a huge week again.

We are very blessed here ion the IxCHeL Fibre farm to have some pretty awesome visitors: Wombats and wallabies and lots more amazing Australian Wildlife, ecen Platypus in the creek! So I wanted to share with you some photos of them. Also to show you that yes, wallabies rumble and that is where the tufts of wallaby fur in the batts and the hand spun yarns comes from in case you wondered ..lol

Sexy Bushfire Scientist Funky Bunny Batt 

Ingredients: Super fine Merino, Silk, Angora Bunny, Cashmere, English Leicester, Wallaby fibre, Angelina. All the Batts will be dyed and made to order. The fundraiser batts will be shipped out mid February.

All profits go to Zoos Victoria who at the moment are doing critical care of so much wildlife that were rescued from bushfire areas. Healesville Sanctuary, close to where our little fibre farm is , is one of them. They do a fantastic job giving critical care and will play an enormously important role in making sure that endangered species will have a change to survive in the future.
