Happiness and Naked Easter Bunnies

How things have changed! A decade ago I was clipping a bunny at a local spinners and weavers guild, showing them how a naked angora bunny looked and that it just needs a bit of a gentle haircut and nothing more to get their beautiful fibre;  now, all shows are cancelled and we all have to stay home.

I was dyeing up a storm preparing for the handknitters guild show in May, spinning lots and lots of angora yarns and running around like an energizer bunny trying to get all the things done. I am still running around like an energizer bunny but I have to say, it is with a lot less focus.

I don’t know about you, but I am kind of “event Focused” , you know, the kind of person who knows there is an exam coming up and I have to be ready to take that test and I will do everything in my power to be as best as I possibly can (yes, I am that nerd)…

What to do when there’s no exam aka wool or yarn shows? I’m in a bit of a limbo. It is like somebody has pulled the rug from under me, took all the goal posts away and left me standing there in the middle of the field not knowing where I have to kick the ball or even IF I should kick a ball at all ! So…I had a serious discussion with myself and said “Keep doing what you do! Keep at it! Keep spinning! Keep Dyeing. Make your own goal posts”. So here I am, every Friday, like clock work , still doing my stuff and writing out my thoughts and soul searchings I guess. I have been super busy doing lots of custom orders and spinning !! Yes! Because I wanted to offer you something special this Easter. So today I am offering you fresh, happy angora bunny fibres ( I am still working as a bunny hairdresser !) and some very super soft handspun Bunny Mink Yarns with an amazing halo.

A lot of people are stuck at home now and going a bit stir crazy with cabin fever. I could say, don’t sweat it, stay safe and enjoy doing some crafts or reading, but I know that is easier said than done. I know, and this is me , a professional introvert crafty hermit, a person who has absolutely no problem being cooped up inside not seeing anybody than my family and my animals most of the time. I know I am not normal in that sense..lol It always reminds me of a geography assignment I had to do in high school where we had to write down where we went over the weekend and what we had done, so we could track our movements all over the map.
No kidding I made things up to have SOMETHING on the map and even then my teacher had the audacity to call me out in class for the fact  that I didn’t have that much tracking on my map. If only he knew that there was no tracking at all and in reality I had stayed home, reading, weaving and playing music.   So yeah, I feel like I have been preparing for this Covid 19 isolation all my life !

Saying that, I totally get it that normal people like you are doing it tough and crave going out, miss the night life and seeing friends in the flesh… I feel your pain.

This will not last forever, but it will be for at least another few months if not 6 months. And I do believe that this whole pandemic will change the way not only we will behave and think for a long time after we can all go out and socialize again.
I wonder if hugging will ever be allowed again.
If the toilet paper fetish will ever go away.
If we all become forever obsessed with handwashing and sanitizing every part of our lives.
Or, will we feel free to say “hey, I am going to jump in that mud puddle again and I don’t care”

Whatever happens, I hope for one thing and one thing only: that we learn to care about other people even more, we try and help each other in times of need. There are no borders, no matter how high we build that wall, there is no way you can hold back biology and nature.

At the end of the day, there is no certainty other than the love and care that we can give to one another in times of panic and disaster. We have to have hope that THAT will be what we learn from all of this. To stay safe means also to take care of others, because alone, just by ourselves, the world is a lonely place.
Stay safe, stay connected and do not forget to have fun !
We are inventive enough ! and this time will teach us that there are lots of alternative ways to connect, to stay informed, to learn, to care and to do live our lives.

Here’s this weeks update . Lots of bunnies got naked especially for you. Email me , message me on facebook, Instagram or on Ravelry if you want to spin or felt some of these amazing English angora bunny fibres and knit with some amazing out of this world Bunny Mink Yarns.
