Remember to turn on the light...

Time flies, a week goes by in a flash and here we are in MAY already ! Now, normally, at this time of year, in May, I would be running around even more frantically than normal to prepare for the Handknitters Guild show at the end of May. I would be trying to get as much ready and dyed and spun as I possibly could. A truly gargantuan task I always put on myself, because I always LOVE to go to that show to offer everybody something new and exciting I have been working on. This year however, as you know and are aware of , no doubt, all wool and yarns shows are cancelled. It is super hard in these times with so many restrictions to keep yourself motivated. You know, like dressing up with no where to go. You can dress up, put all the make up on you want and …well, we are all basically stuck in side. Now, I am not complaining !!!! it is just a plain fact that we have to make absolutely sure that we protect the health of everybody on this planet and not be self centred and delusional to understand that this pandemic is serious and can be deadly to a huge amount of people. I know this because I worked in epidemiology and medicine. That doesn’t mean it isn’t hard. Especially when you are like me and you are majorly event orientated. Meaning, I know there is a deadline and a show, I work towards that and BOOM !! I get it done. Now of course, there are no shows and there are no deadlines. So what did I do? I made my own..lol

Every year for about a decade I have been concentrating in yarn every May every single year. So, I am doing the same thing this year. Corona virus or not : you are going to get exciting new updates and new handdyed and spun yarns that are as special as I can possibly make them every week !Right on your screen! No need to go out ! You can stay safe and at the same time be enabled with some yummy yarn adventures !

This week , on the 1st of May no less, I am offering you a new yarn base I wanted to offer you that is super special: spun in Victoria, on a base of white and grey sheep spun as singles first and then plied together. What that gives you as a base is super interesting in tone and gets even more interesting when you start dyeing. I have named this new yarn base GAIA, after the Godess Mother Earth, because the Yarn base is a 100% wool, not super washed so only hand wash please, and looks organic and natural. It is a beautiful DK 8ply yarn with 200meters per 100grams. I have chosen to dye a few with very different techniques, ranging from speckle to splash to glazing to painting. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

I did tell you that the next round of club sign ups would be ioening this week but I have run out of tuime ! so I will start that process next week! Promise !

Stay safe, stay connected and please, do not forget to have fun !

Here’s this weeks update . Email me , message me on facebook, Instagram or on Ravelry if you want to spin or felt some of these amazing fibres.
